Cod and chips on a Friday evening used to be something we could take for granted...but with stocks becoming ever smaller, fish is becoming an increasingly precious commodity.

A group of people that dedicate their time to preserving our fish stocks is the crew of the HMS Mersey, one of three Royal Navy fishery protection vessels patrolling our region's coastline. In the first of two special reports Tom Barton went on board.
