Introduction

I am an ambitious young journalist with a strong academic record - and solid experience as a reporter, producer, and video journalist. I had my first newspaper byline at the age of fourteen. Six years later, I'd been published in four national broadsheets. By the time I was 23 I was a regular face on ITV Wales News, fronting live and pre-recorded news items.

I’m now a video journalist, reporting for Anglia Tonight. I’m keen to take the next step in my career, and move into a role where I have the opportunity to continue to develop my on-screen experience.

I have attained a first-class degree from the University of York, a post-graduate diploma from Cardiff University's respected journalism school, and excellent GCSE and A level results.

Achievements

  • Politician on a Pension: five items which ran over a week, challenging an MP to live on the basic state pension. The project was conceived, shot, and packaged by myself. It attracted an unprecedented level of response from our viewers.
  • Amaniel Weldemichael: I broke a high-profile story about a teenage asylum seeker who may be thrown out of the country, and have been the sole reporter for Anglia Tonight as it has continued to develop.
  • ITV Awards: I was nominated by my editor as Anglia’s entrant for Young Journalist of the Year at the ING Awards.
  • School’s Out?: a series of items which ran over a week on ITV Wales News looking at the issues surrounding the future of rural schools. The idea was mine, and I was the reporter on all of the items.
  • September 11: I was at The Observer on September 11, 2001, and played an active role in their coverage of the terrorist attacks. I was invited back, twice, to contribute to supplements marking the anniversary of the attacks.
