Tom has covered some of the biggest domestic and international stories of recent years, including the Suffolk Murders, the trial of serial killer Peter Tobin, the 9/11 terrorist attacks on America and the case of German “killer doctor” Daniel Ubani. Combining the scope of general news reporting with a specialism in politics, he uses his First Class politics degree from the University of York to report from across Westminster for a variety of outlets. Among other political stories, he covered the 2010 General Election and the expenses scandal.
His work has taken him across Europe, seeing him report from Spain, Germany and France. With extensive on-screen and live reporting experience, Tom is also a multi-skilled journalist and film-maker and is as comfortable behind the camera as in front of it. Alongside his journalism he has directed a one-hour documentary, Chorus Chorus, which is currently in post-production. He filmed and directed a four-part mini-series for ITV Anglia, Politician on a Pension, challenging an MP to live on the basic state pension for a week.
